Shazam! I have met the answer to boring runs (the ones every runner has to take when he/she can't take exciting runs), and it is Ipod. And not music — I can hear music on any of a dozen radio stations. My new Nano arrived yesterday, and last night, while watching the Penn State-FSU game, I loaded CDs of Jack Kerouac's On the Road, poems chosen by Garrison Keillor and Berlitz Italian classes onto my computer, then the Nano. And today's 50-minute run in the neighborhoods (water tower route) in the dark flashed by like nothing — four chapters, actually.

It's a little warmer, about 35, breezy and clear out. No moon right now (it's about a quarter waxing, but it's gone by morning), so very dark.

I felt better, having worked through the tiny bit of stiffness from resuming after a 2-week hiatus.

Tonight is the BIG GAME, and I'll be rooting for Texas to the extent I'm rooting at all. It should be a good game. I should note that Nebraska plays both of them next year, Texas in Lincoln and SC in LA. I can hardly wait.
