And away we go

Much has happened since last I posted, along with the picture of me in the motorized grocery cart. The foot is almost fully recovered — still a little swollen, and the second toe isn't lining up quite right — and the doc says I can start running again, probably in May. We'll see. In the meantime, I went back to the gym for the first time in months, and I managed it five days in a row. I'm concentrating on the elipticals right now, and starting slow. I did 1 mile on Monday, and increased it by a quarter mile each day, including sprints for the last five-tenths of each mile. I also did some light circuits on the weight machines, and I'm happy to report that I can still do almost unlimited reps on the abductor (?) machines ("spread 'em" and "together") at the heaviest weight setting, 290 pounds. I don't know how my legs got so strong in that area, but it's surprising to me and to anyone else who walks by and notices what I'm doing. Let's see, the elipticals wound up totaling 8.25 miles, so 8.25; 8.25; 8.25; 8.25. By far the lowest totals since I started running 35 years ago.

So glad to hear you can start running again, though. You'll build back up. That's funny about the weight machines.
