Running in the rain
So no sunrises this morning, because it's overcast and raining. The weather reminds me of February of 1974 when there was a lot of snow in Montana over the holidays, then it warmed up and rained for days. There was major flooding in northwestern Montana, wiping out roads, bridges, power and quite a few homes. Photographer Harley Hettick and I spent three days chasing around that corner of this giant state in Mike Strand's helicopter, pursuing rumors of "dam about to break" or "family stranded." It was a blast, though not for the victims.
Anyway, my "usual" routes are becoming quagmirish, so I parked just off the highway and ran on back streets south of the highway, to the Blackfoot River bridge on Stemple Pass Road (where I shot the accompanying selfie) and about half a mile out that road. The route choice was based on the streets being paved, for the most part.
The temperature is warm (40-ish), and it's supposed to be like this for the next 10 days, so I'll probably be running in shorts and a T-shirt by Valentine's Day.

Good to see you're back at it. I've been tuning in for awhile since I followed the link on Kotynski's blog a few years back. Always kinds of whets the appetite to get over to the Blackfoot drainage. We share trail running and Huskers.(I went to law school there--grew up in Kearney).

Thanks Charlie ... After a lengthy, I guess you'd call it a hiatus, I'm hoping to be back on the Divide by spring. I appreciate the support. I grew up in Grand Island and went to undergrad school in Lincoln, though my degrees came a little later up here at UM.
