The virgin's girdle

Forgot to mention this one from our visit to Prato last week. The old church there has a unique characteristic, an outdoor pulpit built into the exterior.

That's because the principal relic of this church is the Girdle of the Virgin, a belt that reputedly was worn by Mary. It was brought to folk here in the 200s AD and has been passed along in the hierarchy of this church "family."

It is brought out for public ... what, adoration? ... commemoration five times a year, and they do it from this pulpit because thousands of people still show up for it!
