Back down to earth

Went shorter today after yesterday's trip into the clouds. This was the state land on the south side of the Blackfoot River, and this is where I turned around, at the west end of that state tract.

Half a mile or so from the turnaround, the trail goes back up the oft-photographed ravine. I think a four-miler was near the top of what I could handle today. It was much warmer — almost 60! — which meant it was my first run of the year (in Montana) on which I didn't have to wear a hat or sweatshirt. Felt great that way.

This is a cool melon-size rock I noticed on the way out and photographed on the way back.

Same story for this odd, poisonous-looking mushroom right in the trail.
