Flowers on the Contour Road
A colorful mix of paintbrush, balsamroots and so on on this hillside near today's turnaround spot on the Humbug Contour Road. I ran a little late today, but early enough to avoid the 100 percent likelihood of thunderstorms. Took a couple of days off to mow my acre.
I'm going to keep an eye out for an appropriate sample of the hillsides covered in arrowleaf balsamroot. This one's not bad, but most of the good flowers are up the hill a ways. I'm going to Helena in the next day or two for some meds, and I'll watch.
I call these incipient wild strawberries.
Today's run was uneventful and pretty. I may try for a run on the Divide on my way back from Helena this weekend.
